3D Scanning (White Light Scanning)

APM Offers high quality 3D scanning services for a wide variety of applications and needs.

The results of scanning can be offered as copious point cloud data or orderly sections along principal planes or parallel to any user defined plane. Point cloud can also given as tessellated STL file.

The point cloud data generated can be reliably read into all industry standard CAD packages for further processing.

APM uses ATOS Optical non – contact white light scanning system and TRITOP Photogrammetry system from M/s Gom mbH, Germany for 3D-Scanning. This technology is currently considered the best in the field of 3d-scanning due to various advantages-


• Points are scanned on the surface of the part hence no complex compensation is required and so errors due to wrong compensation are avoided.

• A wide variety of parts and materials can be easily scanned including metal, wood, plastic, glass, epoxy, modeling clay, soft materials like foam, rubber etc

• A wide range of size can be accommodated on a white light scanner varying from 5mm to 10000mm ( yes it is 10000 mm or 10m)

• A very high density of point cloud data is generated
• The process is many times faster than conventional contact type methods.
• As part orientation can be changed during the process so scanning of all sides of the part can be done without expensive fixturing.

• It is possible to scan the inner details of parts like castings etc after cutting, without loosing the datum.

• There is no limitation on the job weight so heavy parts like dies and moulds, complete two wheelers and four wheelers can be easily scanned.

• The system is portable and can move to the site for scanning.
